Systems and/or methods may be used to handle failure of a HeNB/HNB, a SeGW, or an edge component. For example, actions may be performed by the edge component when a HeNB, a CGW, or a SeGW fails. The actions that may be performed when a SeGW may fail may include tearing down an IPSec tunnel to a HeNB connected to the edge component, using S1-AP signaling, a signaling interface (e.g., a connection management interface (CMI), an X2 interface, and/or a Sxx interface to inform the HeNB of the failure, and/or the like. The actions that may be performed when a HeNB may fail may include using S1-AP signaling and/or a signaling interface (e.g., a CMI) to inform a mobility management entity (MME) of the failure, and/or the like.
