The information indicative of the durations of the scenes (200a, 200b, 200c) is included in the fingerprint (340) in an order in which the scenes (200a, 200b, 200c) are included in the video stream (110). Moreover, each duration is optionally defined as a count of a number of video frames (260, 270) therein. The method is capable of generating a fingerprint which is susceptible to more simply and more efficiently synchronizing first and second data signals together.
