The first and second handles are hingedly connected to one another at their first ends. The food press has an intermediate member hingedly connected to the first end of the second handle and slidingly connected to the first end of the first handle. The intermediate member substantially fills the space between the first and second handles when the first and second handles are brought together. The press may be configured as a seafood cracker, nutcracker, garlic press, and/or food slicer.
