The invention relates to a process for preparing a coated organic pigment, comprising the following steps: a) an anhydrous mixture; (i) of an organic pigment and (ii) of a siliceous compound of formula [R1—O]3Si—R2 (I); in which R1 denotes a C1-C4 alkyl radical and R2 denotes a C1-C8 alkyl radical, is prepared; b) the mixture is placed in contact with an aqueous composition comprising a surfactant chosen from (C8-C16)alkyl sulfate salts and oxyethylenated (C6-C10)alkylphenols comprising from 5 to 40 ethylene oxide units; c) the coated pigment in powder form is recovered. The invention also relates to a coated organic pigment obtained according to this process, and also to a cosmetic composition containing such a coated organic pigment.
