The aim of the invention is to improve the grip of the hose relative to the hand of the user and/or on a connection to a connecting element via a compression-type fitting. For this purpose, a relief structure is produced on an outward surface of a cover layer of the hose. The relief structure can substantially improve the haptic impression and/or, when the connection is tight, bring about an interlocking or at least semi-interlocking engagement of retaining elements of a connecting element with the relief structure and substantially increase the retaining force which prevents the hose end from accidentally slipping off the connecting element.
