Embodiments of ballistic vest system including a ballistic vest having a soft body armor component with a ballistic vein component positioned behind and adjacent the soft armor component for providing structural support to the ballistic vest and provide further dissipation of forces generated by the impact of a ballistic projectile and/or shrapnel against the soft body armor component.
