Longitudinal embodiments and radial embodiments have a plurality of channels that penetrate the elastomeric member and through which hydrocarbon and aqueous fluid flow. The plurality of channels enable extensive distribution of this activating fluid and facilitate maximum swelling of the elastomeric member.
