The motion assembly including an articulating element configured to secure an optical element in a path of a light being generated by the decorative lighting apparatus, and a motor coupled to the articulating element via a linkage such that a movement generated by the motor is imparted to the articulating element so that the light passing through the optical element is articulated when projected onto a surface.
