The image processing apparatus receives image data of an image to be recorded on the unit region, obtains, for each of the recording element groups, a ratio of being used for recoding the image on the unit region, and corrects the image data in accordance with the obtained ratios and recording characteristic information representing recording characteristics of the recording element groups.
