The substrate comprises: a base substrate; a color layer disposed on the base substrate; and first and second transparent electrodes disposed on opposite sides of the color filter layer and electrically connected with the color filter layer. A color of the color filter layer can be changed based on gray scale of an image to be displayed on the liquid crystal display panel by applying a voltage signal to the color filter layer through the first and second transparent electrodes, thereby a light leakage in a dark state of the liquid crystal display panel is avoided, and thus it is possible to improve contrast of the liquid crystal display panel.
