After performing this notification, the information processing apparatus performs authentication of a user upon receipt of authentication data of the user from the information terminal, and starts an operation in the normal mode if the authentication of the user has succeeded, and shifts the power mode to the power-saving mode if the authentication of the user has not succeed.
