The welder protection device further comprises a retracting mechanism arranged to move the optical filter optical filter from an active position to a retracted position and vice versa. In the active position, the optical filter lies inside the welder protection device and in the wearer's field of view, and in the retracted position the optical filter lies inside the welder protection device and outside the wearer's field of view.
