An image forming apparatus includes: a sheet conveyance section configured to convey a sheet; an image forming section configured to transfer a toner image to the sheet passing through a transfer nip; a fixing section that is allowed to be displaced in a sheet width direction in a predetermined acceptable displacement range relative to a home position, the fixing section being configured to fix the toner image on the sheet passing through a fixing nip; a skew detection section configured to detect skew of the sheet between the transfer nip and the fixing nip; and a control section which controls the fixing section to displace in the sheet width direction based on a detection result obtained by the skew detection section.
