An interior area of the bottom half of the casing houses a motor that is configured to generate a suction force, which is ultimately transmitted through a tube and an appended flexible hose. By positioning the motor at the bottom half of the casing, the vacuum cleaner exhibits a more preferred and ergonomic center of gravity. The canister vacuum cleaner is bagless—and does not require the use of a disposable bag to capture and retain dirt and debris that the vacuum cleaner extracts from the environment. In some cases, the vacuum cleaner utilizes a first, second, and third means for cyclonic separation of dirt and debris.
