The controlling method of a display apparatus includes receiving a power-off command through a control apparatus to control the display apparatus, storing image content information and identification information, the image content information being about an image content which is displayed by the display apparatus at a time at which the power-off command is input, and the identification information being about the control apparatus, in response to a power-on command being input, determining whether information included in the power-on command matches the stored identification information, and in response to the information included in the power-on command matching the stored identification information, displaying the stored image content information.
