The display control apparatus includes a setting acquiring unit which is configured to acquire a setting value for generating the image data, a display determining unit which is configured to determine whether to display an update reception screen based on the acquired setting value, a display control unit which is configured to display the update reception screen on the display unit if the display determining unit determines to display the update reception screen, and is configured not to display the update reception screen on the display unit if the display determining unit determines not to display the update reception screen, and an instruction receiving unit which is configured to receive the update instruction through the update reception screen.
