The apparatus may include: a position measurer configured to measure a position of the vehicle; a communicator configured to receive event information from an outside of the vehicle; and a processor configured to perform guidance and a warning for an event depending on whether or not the vehicle is scheduled to pass through an event occurrence point using a travel route history recorded by the position measurer and the received event information, when absence of map data is confirmed on the basis of the event information.
