A power transmitting apparatus that transmits electric power to a power receiving apparatus performs wireless communication with the power receiving apparatus, transmits at least one type of electric power having a power value specific to the power transmitting apparatus, and performs a determination as to whether or not to transmit electric power required by the power receiving apparatus to the power receiving apparatus. The power transmitting apparatus receives at least one type of converted value converted from the electric power received by the power receiving apparatus, and performs the determination based on the converted value and the specific power value.
