DETERMINING WATER CONTENT AND DROPLET SIZE OF A WATER-IN-OIL EMULSION BY MEANS OF TWO RESONATORS OPERATING AT DIFFERENT FREQUENCIES
Abstract:
The invention relates to monitoring a water-in-oil emulsion wherein oil is in continuous phase and water is in dispersion phase. The invention consists in exposing the emulsion flowing through a first section of a pipe to an electromagnetic field in a microwave resonator (2) and explosing the emulsion flowing through a second test section of the pipe, to an electromagnetic field of a frequency markedly lower than the microwave frequency in a second reseonator (7). The dielectric loss of the emulsion is measured in both resonators. The results of the measurements are transmitted to a computer control device wherein the water content and the droplet size are determined.
