PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication structure which allows a flexible communication topology and additionally provides a reduction in hardware change. SOLUTION: The communication structure has a communication controller which has a synchronization unit, a first interface and a second interface. For data exchange, a first interface and a second interface are connected to a communication system through a first I/O connection and a second I/O connection, respectively. In the communication system which has at least one further user or unit, the first interface and the second interface of the communication controller has a variable function. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method and apparatus in which efficient transmission can be performed over a network having a ring topology, and corresponding network. SOLUTION: A connection error between two subscriber stations of the network is detected by monitoring carrier signals. After the connection error is identified, the first subscriber station transfers data from its own output interface connected to an input interface of the second subscriber station to its own input interface where the connection error to the output interface of the second subscriber station occurs. SOLUTION: Each module formed in the primary side (20) has odd number of teeth (25) and at least three teeth (25). A coil (30) having a reverse direction is provided for a tooth which adjoins each module (20) of both directly (25). PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the time synchronism of a control unit, and to particularly utilize a common time system in spatially divided various control units easily and efficiently as much as possible. SOLUTION: Control signals are transmitted from a main unit to all slave units as reference signals. Each slave unit carries out: a step where a first time counting is started after the control signals are received through a first signal line; a step where a second time counting is started after the control signals are received through a second signal line; and a step where two time count values are added; a step where the added time count values are compared with an informed signal elapsed time; and a step where the time count values are read instantaneously when the added time count values are equalized to the informed signal elapsed time. Time correction parameters are obtained on the basis of the read count values, and the slave units are time-synchronized in consideration of the time correction parameters. SOLUTION: The time synchronizing method is a method for temporally synchronizing subscribers connected via a periodically operating communication system. SOLUTION: A telegram is formed to be a data telegram. Unlike prior arts, synchronization information is not transmitted in the form of a specific short Master Synchronization Telegram.
