Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for quickly and inexpensively manufacturing small thin sheet glass having 25 mm×25 mm to 50 mm×100 mm outside dimension and 0.5-1.1 mm thick with ≤0.01 mm dimension error.
SOLUTION: The apparatus for manufacturing small thin sheet glass has a cutting device for cutting strip-shaped thin sheet glass into the small thin sheet glass; and an end part treating device for polishing and chamfering the end part of the cut small thin sheet glass. The cutting device has a table for at least fixing the strip-shaped thin sheet glass; a movable cutter for providing two scribe lines reaching both ends of the thin sheet glass in the short side direction and two scribe lines intersecting the scribe lines so that a figure surrounded by four scribe lines forms the outline of the small thin sheet glass, repeatedly in the long side direction of the thin sheet glass; and a cutting means for cutting the outside part of the scribe lines of the thin sheet glass.

SOLUTION: The processing apparatus for a thin sheet glass comprises a sandblasting device and a grinding device. The sandblasting device comprises a table 1 having a means to fix a thin sheet glass 6 at a predetermined position, a masking plate 2 fixed vertically movably, installed with a smallish notch 21 so that a part of the thin glass sheet 0.2 to 0.35 mm inside from a hole and/or gouging to be made is exposed, and protecting the table 1, and a sandblasting means 3 to spray abrasive particles to the exposed part by the notch 21. The grinding device has a table having a means to fix the thin sheet glass cut by the sandblasting device at a predetermined position, and a grinding means to finish the end face of the part cut by the sandblasting means into a predetermined hole and/or gouging shape.

The apparatus comprises at least: a preheating oven for heating the plate glass to a temperature close to the temperature of the treating liquid; a chemical treatment tank provided with a control means to keep the temperature of treating liquid, a heater and a drain valve for discharging the treating liquid; a slow cooling oven for cooling chemically treated plate glass to a temperature of 120-80°C; a washing tank for washing the cooled plate glass; a drying means; a means to sequentially transfer the plate glass to the preheating oven, the chemical treatment tank, the slow cooling oven, the washing tank and the drying means in this order; and a supply tank for supplying the treating liquid to the chemical treatment tank. The chemical treatment tank has a means to agitate the treating liquid, and the supply tank has a means to melt the treating agent and a means to supply the treating liquid obtained by the melting means to the chemical treatment tank.

SOLUTION: The method for cutting the glass sheet comprises: a first step of providing a mirror-shaped cutting line 2 and a breaking line 3 having one end going toward the end part of the glass sheet 1 and the other end going toward a shaping part and blowing cooled air on the cutting line 2 and the breaking line 3 to progress the cutting line 2 and the breaking line 3 into the inside of the glass sheet; a second step of progressing the cutting line 2 to the under surface of the glass sheet; and a third step of progressing the breaking line 3 to cut and remove an unnecessary part. In the second step, a heater 21 is pressed to the under surface side of the glass sheet 1 so as to straddle over the cutting line 2 to heat the under surface of the glass sheet 1 to progress the cutting line 2 up to the under surface. In the third step, hot air is blown to the terminal of the breaking line 3 in the end part side of the glass sheet 1 from the upper part of the glass sheet 1 to rapidly heat the breaking line 3.
