The invention comprises dithiobis-[2-chlorcycloalkene]s having 4-16 carbon atoms in each cycloalkene ring. The preparation of dithiobis - [2 - chlorocyclooctene - 1] by the reaction of sulphur monochloride with 1,5- cyclooctadiene is described and it is stated that other dithiobis-[2.chlorocycloalkene]s may be prepared by analogous methods.
