Abstract: 338,951. Forrester, H. J. C., (Wichwire Spencer Steel Co.). Aug. 26, 1929. Flat endless-belt conveyers. - An endless-belt conveyer for high temperature service comprises a series of interlaced spiral members 10 formed of highly heat-resistant metal. Transverse contraction is prevented by a series of cross rods 12, abutments for the ends of which are afforded either by the coils of adjacent pairs of spiral members, or by longitudinally flexible selvages formed by pressing the end turns of the spiral members against each other. The belt may be flattened by pressure rolls. A suitable alloy for belts exposed to a range of temperature up to 1600‹ F. consists of 0.16-0.24 per cent of carbon, 17-18 per cent of chromium, 25-26 per cent of nickel, 2-3 per cent of silicon, and 55.84- 52.76 per cent of iron. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 250,200.
