    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a refractory for gas blowing excellent in a function to prevent bubbling defect at a low cost. SOLUTION: A refractory raw material using 65-80 wt.% alumina particle and 15-30 wt.% unstabilized zirconia particle having 0.3-2 mm particle diameter as aggregate raw materials and the balance at least one kind of a fine powdery raw material selected from the group composed of silica fine powder, alumina fine powder, clay fine powder and chromium oxide fine powder is prepared. A sintered compact having zirconia particle, around which fine cracks are generated, is obtained by adding a binder into the refractory raw material, kneading, forming into a prescribed shape and firing in the atmosphere.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the excellent spalling resistance, wear resistance, erosion resistance and mechanical strength in a slide gate plate by heating and forming a mixed material containing a specific ratio of each raw material of magnesia quality, carbon quality and alumina-zirconia at specific temp. and pressure. SOLUTION: The slide gate plate 4 having a molten steel flowing hole 5 penetrated in the thickness direction is manufactured by heating at high temp. and forming the mixed material containing by wt.% of 55-92 magnesia quality raw material, 3-15 carbon quality raw material, 5-30 alumina-zirconia raw material of 30-97 Al2 O3 and 3-70 ZrO2 at 1000-1900 deg.C temp. and 10-20 MPa pressure. As the other way, this slide gate plate 4 has the slide gate plate 4 body having the molten steel flowing hole 5 and an annular or a cylindrical molten steel flowing member inserted in the molten steel flowing hole 5 and forming the surface contacting with the molten steel stream, and is formed while heating at high temp. as the same way as the above-mentioned.
