    Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus for displaying threshold of visibility receivable in a ground wave digital broadcasting receiver is provided to judge a cause of bad receiving of a digital broadcast by estimating a receiving channel and calculating receivable threshold of visibility, thereby easily coping with the bad receiving. CONSTITUTION: A frame synchronization restoring unit(105) restores frame synchronization from received ground wave digital broadcasting signals. A channel estimator(106) receives the restored frame synchronous signals and estimates a channel from digital broadcasting signals corresponding to the frame synchronous signals, and outputs the estimated channel information. A TOV(Threshold Of Visibility) calculator(107) calculates the receivable TOV from the output channel information according to echo. A TOV signal converter(108) converts the calculated receivable TOV into picture signals. A main control unit(109) transmits the receivable TOV signal to a VSB(Vestigial Side Bands) demodulator(104) to be displayed on a screen.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: A digital television symbol timing synchronous algorithm is provided to square an existing Gardner method with a received signal, and to apply the squared value to a Gardner symbol timing detector, then to recover a symbol clock, thereby restoring symbol timing without frequency components. CONSTITUTION: A Gardner symbol timing recoverer using a prefilter is independently operated from a squared Gardner symbol timing recoverer. The Gardner symbol timing recoverer using the prefilter filters a signal passing through a square root cosine filter1(303) to a prefilter1(304), and uses the filtered signal as an input of a timing detector1(308).
