    Abstract: According to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, provided are a method and an apparatus for controlling a sensorless AC motor. The method of controlling a sensorless AC motor, in which the location of a rotor of a three-phase AC motor is estimated by using three shunt resistors, includes the following steps of: applying a voltage vector for current measurement to the motor by introducing a high frequency voltage signal for sensorless control to a voltage signal which is output from a current controller and input to an inverter in order to drive the three-phase AC motor; sampling current from the three-phase shunt resistors in the inverter; and estimating a location of the rotor based on the sampled current, wherein the voltage vector for current measurement includes a valid vector and a zero vector. The zero vector includes only an S0 vector, and the zero vector (S0) is [000] in which upper switches (M1, M2 and M3) of each leg of the inverter are all switched off.
