Abstract: PURPOSE: A composition containing Korean pear for relieving and preventing hangover is provided to reduce alcohol concentration in the human body and to identify active ingredients of the pear. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing and relieving hangover contains a soluble fraction of Korean pear(Pyrus pyrifolia cv. Shingo) peel as an active ingredient. A composition for preventing and relieving hangover contains Pyrus pyrifolia cv. Shingo-derived arbutin as an active ingredient. A method for preparing the soluble fraction comprises: a step of mixing Pyrus pyrifolia cv. Shingo with methanol and extracting at 80 degrees Celsius for 4 hours three times; a step of isolating the extract into soluble part and insoluble part; a step of dissolving the soluble part in distilled water and adsorbing to Diaion HP-20 resin; and a step of treating with methanol/water by silicagel column chromatography.
