Abstract: PURPOSE: A 6-arm poly(L-lactide)-polyethylene block copolymer is provided to be effective for micelle formation and to control a drug release profile by controlling a chain length of poly(L-lactide) within micelle. CONSTITUTION: A micelle for drug release comprises a 6-arm poly(L-lactide)-polyethylene glycol block copolymer represented by the following chemical formula I. A method for preparing the 6-arm poly(L-lactide)-polyethylene glycol block copolymer comprises the steps of: (i) performing ring opening polymerization of L-lactide using dipentaerythritol as a starting material in the presence of a catalyst of tin octate; and (ii) conjugating carboxymethyl mono-methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) to the 6-arm poly(L-lactide).
