Abstract: The pneumatic piston and cylinder acting as a spring controlling opening and closing of a boot lid is secured at its outer end to the lid and at its inner end to a bracket with a hinge pin. When the piston is fully retracted inside the cylinder the end of the cylinder rests on a spring above the hinge position. The piston reaches the end of its travel before the lid is fully closed. Between the spring and the end of the cylinder is included a stop plate. The action of the spring increases the length of life of the pneumatic cylinder.
