    Abstract: A magnesium-based hydrogen storage material and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to improve hydrogenation property by reducing activation energy and adding scandium oxide in magnesium hydride. A magnesium-based hydrogen storage material includes magnesium hydride and scandium oxide 5wt% ~ 10wt% added to the magnesium hydride. A manufacturing method of the magnesium-based hydrogen storage material includes the following steps of: manufacturing magnesium ingot to a powder state; manufacturing magnesium hydride by alloying the magnesium in a hydrogen atmosphere mechanically; and alloying the magnesium hydride with scandium oxide.
