    Abstract: An apparatus and a method for managing a failure in an SCA(Software Communications Architecture) based base station are provided to collect and manage hardware error information in accordance with a sensing result with respect to plural chips included in each ATCA(Advance Telecom Computing Architecture) board via an interrupt scheme, to collect and manage error information of a software module loaded in each ATCA board, and to display the collected error information. An apparatus for managing a failure in an SCA(Software Communications Architecture) based base station includes ATCA boards(102/1-102/n), a communication module(104), and a failure management module(106). The failure management module includes a hardware managing unit(106a) and a software managing unit(106b). The ATCA boards mounts plural chips and plural sensors which sense physical errors of the chips, and includes a BMC(Board Management Controller) which manages the chips and the sensors, detects the errors and provides the detected errors. The communication module includes a hub which connects the ATCA boards to the failure management module and connects the ACTA boards to one another on the basis of the Ethernet scheme, and transmits the error information of the software module, provided by the ATCA boards, to the failure management module. The failure management module collects and manages the error information of the hardware module and the software module by using the hardware managing unit, the software managing unit and the BMC.

    Abstract: An SDR(Software Defined Radio) based terminal and a control method thereof are provided to set up a corresponding software module matched with a hardware module and to transfer a processing result via a domain manager if setup of a software is requested via a user interface and the domain manager, and to set up and control a corresponding hardware module via a hardware module and to transfer a processing result if setup of a hardware is requested via the user interface and the domain manager. An SDR based terminal includes a GPP(General Processing Processor)(202), an RF transceiver & ADC(Analog to Digital Converting) unit(204), an FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) unit(206), and a DSP(Digital Signal Processor)(208). The GPP is a general purposed microprocessor which loads upper layer application programs and controls each component. The GPP provides a control signal for the RF transceiver & ADC unit, the FPGA unit, and the DSP unit, performs a signal process for the signals transmitted by the DSP unit via the loaded application program and performs setup and control for each signal wave form. The RF transceiver & ADC unit performs down conversion of an RF signal, received via an antenna according to a control signal from the GPP, into a baseband signal, performs baseband processing, performs analog to digital conversion, and transmits the signal to the FPGA unit. The FPGA unit performs chip level processing for determining a data transmitting path for the signal provided by the RF transceiver & ADC unit. The DSP unit performs bit level processing for the signal transmitted by the FPGA unit, which processes signals via a multiplier or an operator along the determined data transmission path.
