    Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling a gain of an RF amplifier of a voltage driving type are provided to simplify a structure of a gain controller of the RF amplifier by controlling an attenuation portion formed with a pin diode with an input voltage. CONSTITUTION: A D/A conversion portion(31) converts a control bit signal as a digital signal to an analog signal. An offset voltage generation portion(32) generates a proper offset voltage and amplifies the generated offset voltage. An adder portion(33) adds the offset voltage according to a variation of temperature to an output voltage of the D/A conversion portion in order to drive an attenuation portion(34). The attenuation portion receives the added voltage from the adder portion in order to change a resistant value and control a gain of an RF amplifier(20).

    Abstract: PURPOSE: A circuit for compensating the temperature of an attenuator and a method for the same are provided to drive the attenuator having a predetermined temperature characteristics without performing a complex temperature test and a tuning work. CONSTITUTION: A circuit for compensating the temperature of an attenuator includes an amplifier(11), an attenuator(20) and a temperature compensation unit(25). The amplifier(11) amplifies and outputs the radio frequency(RF) input signal. The attenuator(20) is provided with a pin-diode(21) for controlling the RF output level by receiving the amplified signal from the amplifier(11). The pin-diode(21) changes its characteristics in response to the input voltage. And, the temperature compensation unit(25) includes a temperature compensation pin-diode(41) for compensating the temperature characteristics of the attenuator(20). The temperature compensation unit(25) controls the driving of the attenuator(20) through the reference voltage by using the temperature compensation pin-diode(41).
