Abstract: A process is disclosed for preparing solid, free-flowing water-soluble salts of aryloxy-C1-C4-alkane carboxylic acids. Aryloxy-C1-C4-alkane carboxylic acids are reacted with a salt-forming base. Salts are formed in t he melt in the presence or absence of an entrainer suitable for causing azeotropic water separation or in a solution in the presence of an entrainer suitable for causing azeotropic water separation. The entrainer is removed from the reaction mixture during or after the reaction and the solid salts are then isolated in the usual manner.
