Abstract: A molded iron catalyst material is useful for the hydrogenation of nitriles to amines owing to its indentation hardness of from 850 to 1500 kp/cm2. The material contains metallic iron particles, obtained from iron oxide particles by contact with hydrogen at less than 500.degree.C, and a lubricant. Its preparation involves reduction, passivation and pressing of the iron particles followed by activation of the resulting moldings.

[Also in Division C5] Chlorine nuclear-substituted C 2 -C 4 alkyl benzenes are dehydrogenated with O 2 at 400-700‹ C. in the presence of iodine and an inert heat carrier which has an internal surface area of 0À1 to 15 sq. m./g. and a mean pore size of 300-30,000 Š to give chlorostyrenes. In Example 8 1.ethyl-2,5-dichlorobenzene is converted to dichlorostyrene and in Example 9 1 - ethyl - 2,4,6 - triohlorobenzene is converted to trichlorostyrene.
