Abstract: A specific volume of the material (9) is placed in measuring vessel (7) and a compression force (12) is applied to the gel by a tube (4) guided inside a chamber (14) formed by the vessel. Expansion of the material is recorded without contact by recording a rise in height of a mark (6) on the tube. An Independent claim is made for process equipment in which the super absorbent material is held in a chamber bordered by a measuring vessel and a tube moving in the latter. Both tube and vessel are of metal and the chamber is permanently connected to a solution (17) via a filter (13) and sintered block (16).
