    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a good injection molding material without executing a preliminary mixing between a hard material phase and metal powders by specifying the viscosity of a binder. SOLUTION: At least one kind of the hard material phase is mixed with the metal powders and the binder to form granulated powders. At this time, the preliminary mixing between the hard material phase and the metal powders is not executed before the hard material is mixed with the binder. The binder has a viscosity of 20 to 200cm /10min. at 195 deg.C and under a load of 2.16kg by the DIN standard. Mixing with the organic binder having such a high viscosity brings a high shearing force into a mixture and, as a result, flocculation of the hard material phase or metallic component particles is dispersed or cannot be generated. Therefore, the components inside the granulated material are uniformly distributed, which is reflected to the characteristic corresponding to a produced molded member. Thus, also the flow characteristic of the granulated material during the injection molding is improved, thus the molding of complicated members is facilitated, thereby shortening the binder removing time, too.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain chloride-free zirconium dioxide powder without passing through a complex mechanical treating process by producing powdery zirconium dioxide from a soln. prepd. by dissolving a chloride-free zirconium compd. in a formic acidwater mixture. SOLUTION: A chloride-free zirconium compd. such as zirconium oxide hydrate or basic zirconium carbonate is dissolved in a formic acid-water mixture. The molar ratio between the formic acid and water is usually l:1 to 1:3 and the dissolution temp. is 50-90 deg.C. Evaporable components are removed from the resultant soln. advantageously by spray-drying the soln. and the remaining solid is fired to form zirconium dioxide. An additive stabilizing the tetragonal transformation of ZrO2 . as an end product to change to monoclinic transformation or a precursor of the additive may be added at any time.
