Abstract: Olefins are (co)polymerised in presence of a catalyst comprising (a) a reaction product of montmorillonite and a transition halide (e.g. TiCl4); and (b) a metal organic cpd. of Groups I-III of the Periodic System (e.g. Al(i-C4H9)3); the catalyst having been prepared outside the polymerisation reactor and then being charged to the reactor, optionally diluted with a pulverulent polyolefin. Procedure results in improved reactivity/time behaviour of the catalyst. Total productivity of the system is increased.
