Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing (meth) acrylic acid esters of polyhydric alcohols by reacting (meth) acrylic acid and the corresponding polyhydric alcohols in the presence of at least one acid catalyst and, optionally, of at least one polymerization inhibitor and, optionally, in the presence of a solvent, whereby the polyhydric alcohol that is used has a content of bound formaldehyde of less than 500 ppm.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing alkyl(meth)acrylate by continuous reaction of an aqueous solution containing (meth)acrylic acid obtained directly from gas-phase oxidation by reacting with a straight-chain or branched alkanol with 1 to 6 C atoms or a mixture of two or more thereof in the presence of an esterification catalyst. The inventive method is characterized in that alkanol is introduced into aqueous solution containing (meth)acrylic acid in the form of a gas.
Abstract:
In the preparation of esters of acrylic or methacrylic acid by esterification with alcohols, the interfering deposits formed on the apparatus parts by relatively high molecular weight by-products can be avoided, removed or lessened by allowing a liquid partly or wholly consisting of the alcohol used for the esterification to act on the deposits, fouled apparatus parts or on the surfaces of the apparatus parts on which deposits are easily formed, with preference being given to wetting the deposits or surfaces using suitable nozzles or cleaning sprayers.

Abstract:
A method for complexing 2-6C carboxylic acids (I) involves bringing an acid phase containing (I) into contact with a phase containing amine(s) with boiling point(s) higher than that of (I) as complexing agent(s), to give a complex with a b.pt. higher than that of some of the components in the acid phase. Independent claims are also included for: (i) a method for isolating (I) by treating a gaseous carboxylic acid phase with a liquid complexing phase as above, in which (a) at least some of the components other than (I) in the acid phase are separated as residual gas by heating the complex to a separation temperature at which the complex is still liquid and (b) at least part of the acid (I) is separated as gas in a temperature range within which the complex undergoes cleavage and the complexing phase is liquid; (ii) a process for the production of carboxylate esters by esterification of acids (I) isolated by the above method.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for extracting an aqueous solution containing (meth)acrylic acid. Said solution is brought into contact with a solution containing at least one extracting agent which can be converted into (meth)acrylic acid and forms a miscibility gap with the aqueous solution to produce an organic phase containing (meth)acrylic acid and extraction agent and an aqueous phase.
