Abstract: In a process for the production of synthetic linear polyamides with stabilized melt viscosity, 0,001 to 1% by weight of an acid of phosphorus or a metal salt thereof and 0,01 to 2% by weight of an alkane monocarboxylic or alkane dicarboxylic acid or a salt thereof with a metal of Group I or II of the Periodic Table is added thereto prior to the shaping of the polyamide (the weight of the phosphorus acid component in the mixture being less than that of the carboxylic acid component). Specified phosphorus acid components are hypophosphorous, phosphorous, hypodiphosphoric, orthophosphoric, pyrophosphoric, hexametaphosphoric and metaphosphoric acid. Specified linear polyamides are polycaprolactam, polycaprylic lactam, polylauric lactam, polyhexamethylene adipamide, polyoctamethylene sebacamide, polyurethanes and polyureas. Specified alkane carboxylic acids are capric, palmitic, stearic, behenic, undecane dicarboxylic, acetic, caproic, oenanthic, succinic and adipic acid. In the examples:-(1) polycaprolactam is kneaded at 250 DEG to 260 DEG C. with disodium hydrogen phosphite pentahydrate, calcium stearate and di-t-butyl-p-cresol; (2) polycaprylic lactam is homogenized at 260 DEG to 280 DEG C. with calcium stearate and disodium hydrogen phosphite and (3) polyhexamethylene adipamide is kneaded with calcium stearate and disodium hydrogen phosphite.

Abstract: A process for the manufacture of a polyamide by continuously conveying the aqueous solution of a salt of essentially equivalent amounts of a diamine, or of a mixture of several diamines, and of a dicarboxylic acid, or of a mixture of several dicarboxylic acids, through several reaction zones under polyamide-forming conditions, wherein (a) in a first reaction zone the mixture of starting materials is heated to a temperature of at least 220.degree.C, but not higher than 300.degree.C, at a pressure which is above the corresponding saturation vapor pressure of water and prevents the formation of a vapor phase, until the polycondensation conversion is at least 80%, but without completing the condensation in this zone, (b) in a second zone the pressure acting on the polycondensation mixture is released, adiabatically, to levels of not less than 3 atmospheres, and not more then 20 atmospheres, so as to reach temperatures below 215.degree.C, (c) the polycondensation mixture is then heated in a third reaction zone comprising a heat exchanger consisting of heat exchange elements connected in parallel, to from 220 to 330.degree.C, in the course of less than 5 minutes, with evaporation of the bulk of the water, at the pressure level to which the pressure had previously been released or at a lower pressure, (d) in a fourth reaction zone the polycondensation mixture is separated from the water vapor, and (e) finally the condensation is completed under the conditions prevailing at the end of the third reaction zone to form a high molecular weight filamentforming polyamide.

Abstract: Moulded polyurethane elastomers are prepared by reacting in solution an isocyanate modified polyhydroxy compound of MW 1000-6000 and containing terminal -NCO groups with a chain lengthening agent of Formula (I) in which R, R1 and R2 can each be a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl radical having up to 8C, R3 is a divalent linear or branched aliphatic, aromatic or araliphatic hydrocarbon radical having up to 10C in a continuous chain which may be interrupted by hetero atoms; R4 is the radical where A is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl radical and B is an organic radical containing at least one sulphone group and which may be connected with A, and n is 0 or 1; and shaping whilst removing the solvent e.g. by casting on to a plate. The polyhydroxy compound may be a polyether, polythioether, polyesteramide or polyacetal. The isocyanate may be aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic. The solvent may be a polar organic solvent e.g. dimethyformamide, dimethyl acetamide, tetramethyl urea or tetramethylene sulphone.ALSO:In Example (1) 2,4-dihydrazino-6-[N-ethyl-N-thiacyclopentyl - 1,1 - dioxide - amino - s - triazine] is prepared by reacting cyanuryl chloride with ethylene thiacyclopentane 1,1-dioxide amine and adding hydrazine hydrate. The product is recrystallized from a 1:1 mixture of dimethyl formamide and water. In Example (2) 2,4 - dihydrazino - 6 - [tetrahydro - 1,4 - thiazino-1,1 - dioxide] - s - triazine is prepared by reacting cyanuryl chloride with tetrahydro-1,4-thiazine -1,1-dioxide and adding hydrazine, followed by recrystallization from dimethyl formamide/water mixture.

Abstract: Elastic moulded polyurethane articles are prepared by reacting in solution in an inert polar solvent a linear isocyanate modified polyhydroxyl compound of M.W. 750-6000 and a melting point below 50 DEG C. having terminal -NCO groups with a dihydrazino-di-s-triazino compound in which monohydrazino-s-triazines are linked via a bivalent diamine radical, and moulding the resulting solution while removing the solvent by heating. The dihydrazino compound may have the formula where A is a diamine radical attached to the triazine rings via its nitrogen atoms and B is hydrogen chlorine or a monovalent aliphatic or aromatic group of 1-8 C or -OR, or -NR1R2, where R1 and R2 are hydrogen or monovalent aliphatic or aromatic groups of 1-8 C.
