Abstract: An herbicide composition comprises the reaction product of a sulfonic acid and a proton acceptor comprising nitrogen. The herbicide composition may also comprise additional components, such as water. The sulfonic acid may comprise an alkanesulfonic acid, such as methanesulfonic acid (MSA). The proton acceptor may comprise ammonium hydroxide, an amine, an aliphatic amino acid, an aminocarboxylate, or a combination thereof. The herbicide composition further comprises an herbicide different from the reaction product. Various types of herbicides may be utilized, such as glyphosate. A method of forming the herbicide composition comprises the step of combining the sulfonic acid and the proton acceptor to form the reaction product. The method further comprises the step of combining the reaction product and the herbicide to form the herbicide composition. The herbicide composition can be applied to various types of vegetation and/or soil to prevent or impede pre-emergence, growth, or re-growth of the vegetation.

The emulsifier component includes an alkaline earth salt, or amine salt of, a C6-C22 fatty acid along with an alkyl polyglycoside present in an amount from 1 to 20 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the composition. The emulsifier component may also include an optional co-emulsifier present in an amount from 0 to 20 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the composition.
