Ein Polyurethanschaum ist erhältlich aus der Reaktion einer Mischung umfassend A) eine gegenüber Isocyanaten reaktive Verbindung; B) ein Treibmittel ausgewählt aus der Gruppe umfassend lineare, verzweigte oder cyclische C 1 -bis C 6 -Kohlenwasserstoffe, lineare, verzweigte oder cyclische C 1 - bis C 6 -Fluorkohlenwasserstoffe, N 2 , O 2 , Argon und/oder CO 2 , wobei das Treibmittel B) im überkritischen oder nahekritischen Zustand vorliegt; und C) ein Polyisocyanat. Die gegenüber Isocyanaten reaktive Verbindung A) umfasst einen hydrophoben Teil und weist einen hydrophilen Teil und eine durchschnittliche Hydroxyl-Funktionalität von mehr als 1 auf. Der hydrophobe Teil umfasst eine gesättigte oder ungesättigte Kohlenwasserstoffkette mit mindestens 6 C-Atomen und der hydrophile Teil umfasst Alkylenoxideinheiten und/oder Estereinheiten. The present invention relates to a reaction mixture in the form of an emulsion, suitable for further reaction to give polyurethanes, comprising a first and second phase in the emulsion and further comprising the following components: A) polyols; B) blowing agents; C) surfactants; and D) isocyanates, the compounds A) reactive toward isocyanates being present in the first phase of the emulsion and the blowing agent B) in the second phase. The blowing agent B) is in the near-critical or supercritical state and the isocyanate D) is present in the composition in the second phase in a proportion of > 10% by weight of the total amount of isocyanate D). The invention further relates to a process for producing polyurethane foams by providing such a reaction mixture, wherein a polymerization proceeds at the freshly formed interface between polyol phase and blowing agent phase, to the use of such a reaction mixture for production of polyurethane foams and to the polyurethane foams obtained.

A polyurethane foam can be obtained by the reaction of a mixture comprising A) a isocyanate-reactive compound; B) a blowing agent selected from the group including linear, branched or cyclic C 1 to C 6 hydrocarbons, linear, branched or cyclic C 1 to C 6 fluorinated hydrocarbons, N 2 , O 2 , argon and/or CO 2 , the blowing agent B) being present in a supercritical or near-critical state; and C) a polyisocyanate. The isocyanate-reactive compound A) comprises a hydrophobic portion and has a hydrophilic portion and an average hydroxyl functionality of more than 1. The hydrophobic portion comprises a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon chain with at least six C atoms and the hydrophilic portion comprises alkylene oxide units and/or ester units. Most preferred as component A) is a sorbitan ester of formula (II), with w+x+y+z = 20.

The invention relates to a method for producing a foamed material, wherein a composition in the form of an emulsion having a matrix-forming component, a surfactant component, and a near-critical or supercritical foaming agent component experiences a pressure reduction. Furthermore, the foaming agent component comprises a hydrophobic co-component, which is soluble in supercritical CO 2 at a pressure ≥ 150 bar, insoluble in subcritical CO 2 at a pressure ≤ 40 bar, and insoluble in the matrix-forming component and furthermore is present in a fraction from ≥ 3 wt % to ≤ 35 wt % of the foaming agent component. The invention further relates to a composition in the form of an emulsion to be used therein and to a foamed material that can be obtained according to said method.
