Abstract: An apparatus and method for producing a crystal with face-orientation control using a seed crystal being securely performed, and which can advantageously produce a high quality crystal with a large diameter quickly. A crystal-growth crucible movable in the vertical direction is used. While the temperature is being raised, the crucible is kept at a position where all the raw material, i.e., a crystalline substance placed in the crucible, is not melted. After the temperature stabilizes, the crucible moves in a first direction where the temperature becomes higher, so that the whole raw material and a part of the seed crystal melt. Then, the crucible moves in a second direction where the temperature becomes lower, whereby the seed crystal and the molten raw material sufficiently contact each other.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the abrasion at the time of low-speed rotation. SOLUTION: A shaft 3 integrated with a rotary polygon mirror 1 is fitted in a sleeve 2 having a dynamic pressure generating groove 2a so as to form a dynamic pressure bearing. An electrodeposition film 22 obtained by dispersing the lubricating filler such as silicon group resin and inorganic particulate is formed on a bearing surface 2b of the sleeve 2 after conducting processing with a chemical conversion coating 21. The bearing surface 2b is formed by electrodeposition easier than the plating, and abrasion resistance and lubricating performance of the bearing surface 2b can be remarkably improved.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to decrease stages, etc., to surely prevent the splashing and leaking out of lubricant fluid inexpensively in terms of a cost and to eliminate the possibility of staining optical parts by forming a collar part on an aperture side of an oil sump part with a material having a low surface energy. SOLUTION: When the revolving shaft 3 rotates, the lubricant fluid existing in shallow grooves 9 formed at a sleeve 4 is co-rotated by the centrifugal force of the revolving shaft 3 and the expansion, etc., of the bubbles of the air intruding into the lubricant fluid at the time of assembly and the entire part of the lubricant fluid are caused by the effect of the heat by the rotation. When the lubricant fluid cannot stagnate any more in the oil sump part 13, the lubricant fluid tends to creel the collar part 12 from the oil sump part 13 and to ooze further toward the aperture, but since the collar part 12 is formed of material having low surface energy, the lubricant fluid tending to ooze may be shut off. Even if the lubricant fluid comes into contact with the collar part 12, the lubricant fluid does not leak out to the aperture side from the oil sump part 13 unless the lubricant fluid of the amount exceeding the volume of the oil sump part 13 is physically discharged.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dynamic pressure bearing suitably used for a deflection scanning device by providing a fixed sleeve for making a rotating shaft a dynamic pressure bearing, the fixed sleeve is finish worked by cutting with a diamond tool. SOLUTION: A diamond tool 42 is formed of a shank 40 having an outer diameter slightly smaller than the bore diameter of a fixed sleeve 29 to be worked and a diamond tip 41 brazed to a U-shaped cut-out provided on the tip of the shank 40. The fixed sleeve 29 is chucked on a lathe and finished by cutting with the diamond tool. Consequently, the fixed sleeve 29 can be worked with precision of a cylindricity of 1 μm or less, a roundness of 0.5 μm or less, a dispersion of herringbone groove depth of ± 1 μm or less and a surface roughness of 0.3 μm or less. Thus, a dynamic pressure bearing improved in precision of cylindricity, roundness and surface roughness, and a method for manufacturing a dynamic pressure bearing for deflection scanning device can be provided.

Then, a tapered section is formed at the edge of an opening of the sleeve 2, and the surface of the section is polished to a mirror- surface finished surface 2d, so as to be non-wettable with respect to oil. An oil drip 6c, creeping up to the edge of the opening, is made to drop to a fluid surface 6d by forming a coarse surface 2e, which is a wettable surface under the non-wettable surface.

SOLUTION: A bearing clearance 10 has reservoirs 12 and 16 to minimize the dispersion in the quantity of the lubricant contained in radial bearing sections 13 and 15 and a recess 14, etc., and sealing sections 11 and 17 on the aperture sides of the reservoirs 12 and 16. The throttle sections 2a and 2g of a sleeve 2 forming the sealing sections 11 and 17 are provided with arc-like notches 11a and 17a respectively. Since different shape sections are formed by the notches 11a and 17a, the air in the bearing clearance 10 can be let off without attaching the lubricant having gone into the sealing sections 11 and 17 to all around the peripheries of the sealing sections 11 and 17.
