Abstract: The present invention is related to methods and systems for reducing or canceling echoes during fax communications In an embodiment, during a fax call, a first fax signal from a first fax device intended for a second fax device is detected. Based at least in part on detecting the first fax signal from the first fax device (200) or on the termination of the first fax signal, an echo audio packet is muted, wherein the echo audio packet is at least partly the result of the first fax signal being transmitted over a network, the network including at least a data network (203).

Abstract: The present invention provides flexible, user-definable call screening processes. The user (112) can optionally define to which telecommunication terminals a screened call is to be broadcast to and under what conditions. An incoming call is forwarded to a call management system (124) that asks the caller (102) to leave a voice message. The call management system (124) selectively couples the call to a POTS line or a VoIP-capable device (110) so that the user (112) can listen to the incoming message and thereby screen the incoming call. Based on the screening, the user (112) can instruct the call management system (124) to connect the caller (102) to the user (112).
