Abstract:
A side entering battery terminal construction is described wherein a portion of the battery terminal post is locked in a pocket formed in the battery container. A terminal insert penetrates the container wall and is friction welded to the end of the post.
Abstract:
A BATTERY COMPRISING BLOW MOLDED BATTERY CELL MODULES IS DISCLOSED WHEREIN EXTERNAL INTERCELL CONNECTORS ARE PROVIDED FOR INTERCONNECTING THE INDIVIDUAL MODULES. THE MODULES ARE HOUSED IN A BLOW MOLDED BATTERY CONTAINER WHICH HAS A MANIFOLD VENTING ARRANGEMENT.
Abstract:
The internal connections between cell elements of a multi-cell storage battery is effected by forcing and rotating a metallic connector member through a metallic extension of a first cell element, through the intercell partition and into a metallic extension of the second cell element. In so doing, the metal of the insert is thermally fused to the metal of the two metallic extensions.
Abstract:
Batteries are described having battery posts disposed wholly within the battery container. Terminal inserts are installed through the walls of the battery container and into the posts within by a method combining high-speed rotation and pressure. The terminal inserts make permanent electrical and mechanical contact with the interior battery posts and provide external electrical contact means. Means are described to lock the wall of the container to the post and insert and provide a liquidtight seal therebetween.
Abstract:
A tape comprised of an atactic polypropylene and a non-conductive filler is described. This tape is useful in a process which enables a secondary battery having a defective seal to be repaired safely while remaining in operation.
