    Abstract: The present invention discloses a body massager comprising a portable housing including a backrest and a seat support. A longitudinal guide is provided in the backrest cooperating with a carriage for translation of the carriage within the backrest and a motor drives the carriage along the guide. A pair of massage members are supported by the carriage and extend from the backrest for imparting a rolling massage effect upon the back of the user. A second motor drives the massage members for generating a rotary kneading massage effect or for adjusting a width of the rolling massage effect.

    Abstract: A massage apparatus is provided with a housing, and a substrate mounted for rotation to the housing and driven by a motor. A massage node and a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) heater are mounted to the substrate. A pair of contacts and a pair of brushes maintain electrical engagement of the PTC heater with the housing during rotation of the substrate. Another embodiment provides an infrared light emitting diode (LED) beneath the massage node in electrical communication with the housing due to the contacts and brushes. Another embodiment provides a method for imparting a heated massage effect by providing a massage apparatus with a message mechanism, a PTC heater and a plurality of infrared LEDs. A massage effect is imparted and a warm-up operation is initiated of the PTC heater and the LEDs. The warm-up operation of the PTC heater is discontinued upon the massage mechanism reaching a predefined temperature.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a massage apparatus with illumination effects. The apparatus includes a housing (46); a massage formation (136') provided on the housing for contacting a body part of a user; a massage mechanism oriented within the housing for imparting a massage effect to the massage formation for massaging the body part; and a light source (146) provided on the massage formation for conveying an illumination effect from the massage formation. The apparatus further includes: a carriage (52) oriented in the housing for limited translation in the housing, the massage formation provided on the carriage; a motor supported upon the carriage; and a shaft (110) mounted on the carriage and operably driven by the motor for rotation about an axis. The shaft has a pair of secondary shaft portions each canted relative to the shaft axis. The apparatus also has: a pair of massage brackets (124) each joumalled to one of the secondary shaft portions and engaging the carriage for limited rotation about the shaft axis such that rotation of the shaft oscillates the massage brackets relative to the carriage; a pair of massage arms (136') each pivotally connected to one of the massage brackets; and a pair of massage rollers (138', 140') each pivotally connected to one of the massage arms. The massage rollers impart a rolling massage effect upon a desired body part of the user as the carriage is translated relative to the housing and for imparts a kneading massage effect upon the portion of the user's body as the massage brackets oscillate relative to the carriage.
