Abstract:
A process for manufacturing a structure is described which consists of corrugated and a flat sheet or film of thermoplastic material, which sheets are positively connected by matching depressions with undercuts arranged along the grooves of the corrugated sheet and at corresponding points of the flat sheets. The structure is especially suited to make inserts for trickling-filter towers. Matching depression are produced simultaneously in the flat and the corrugated sheet in their areas of contact, and the depressions are then compressed whereby an undercut positive connection is formed. The device may be operated continuously or intermittently, its main part consisting of the tool for making the positive connections. Said tool comprises as the essential parts a series of female molds designed to fit in the grooves of the corrugated sheet, and a counteracting plug. In the female mold a spring-loaded punch is guided. To form the positive connections in the plug advances into the female mold against the spring-loaded punch, and thereby depressions are formed in the corrugated and the flat sheet which are guided one upon the other through the tool. As the plug retracts, the spring-loaded punch advances to compress the depressions whereby the undercut is formed and the sheets are firmly connected.
Abstract:
1395763 Riveting HOECHST AG 20 April 1972 [21 April 1971] 18307/72 Heading B3U [Also in Divisions B5 and D1] Apparatus for riveting two plastics sheets together, e.g. a corrugated sheet 1 to a plane sheet 2, see Division B5, comprises a die 6 with a plunger 4 slideable therein, and a further plunger 9. In operation heated sheets are fed to the apparatus and the plunger 9 enters a bore in the die 6 to form a depression, Fig. 2b, upon subsequent withdrawal of the plunger 9, the plunger 4 is moved by an hydraulic, pneumatic, or spring device 5 to fold the depression, Fig. 2c, and join the sheets. In Fig. 13 (not shown), the die 6 and plunger 9 are respectively mounted in rotatable wheels (11) and (8), and in Figs. 5 and 6, (not shown), the dies 6 are mounted on a rectilinearly movable platen (23).
Abstract:
Disclosed is an improved transport mechanism for cyclically conveying an original past an optical scanning device in an electrophotographic copying machine of the type in which a gripping unit engages a leading edge of an original during the entire cycling time, which reduces distortion, maximizes utilization of the transport mechanism, and enables the use of lower illumination intensities by optically scanning the original as a planar surface and by providing a pair of transport rollers downstream of the optical scanning device to insure a fast cycling and delivery of the original.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a device for mixing and/or conveying, in particular for mixing and conveying a developer composition in an electrophotographic copying machine. The device comprises an elongated member which is rotatable about its longitudinal axis, this member comprising a T-shaped lateral cross-section which has been spirally twisted about its longitudinal axis, whereby at least two portions of the T cross-section comprise helically extending mixing and/or conveying elements. Also disclosed is a method for manufacturing such a device.
