Novel water-insoluble dyestuffs of formula (wherein Y is -OCH 3 or -NHR where R is H or C 1-4 alkyl, and X is H, halo, Me, OMe or OEt), are prepared by coupling an appropriate diazotized 5-amino-isophthalic acid derivative with an appropriate 5-acetoacetylamino-benzimidazolinone. The dyes are yellow-coloured and may be used in the production of printing inks, coloured lacquers or dispersion paints and for the colouring of caoutchouc, plastics, natural or synthetic resins, fibrous textiles, paper, viscose rayon, cellulose ethers or esters, polyamides, polyurethanes, polyglycol terephthalates and polyacrylonitrile.
