Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bleaching activator which has improved solubility and compatibility with fibers and exhibits a better bleaching action than that of a conventional bleaching activator by selecting a specific compd. as or incorporating it into a bleaching activator. SOLUTION: This bleaching activator is or contains a compd. represented by the formula (wherein R1 is H, a 1-24C alkyl, a 2-24C alkenyl, an aryl, cyanomethyl, or a 1-4C alkoxy-(1-4C) alkyl; R2 to R4 are each H, a 1-24C alkyl, a 2-24C alkenyl, an aryl, a 1-4C alkoxy-(1-24C) alkyl, or cyano; when Z is cyano, then Y is the same as R2 to R4 , and when Y is cyano, then Z is the same as R2 to R4 ; and X is an anion). The synthetic route is as follows: for example, isonicotinonitrile is obtd, by a known method, i.e., by the direct oxidation or ammonoxidation of 4-methylpyridine; and, for example, a corresponding N- alkyl-4-cyanopyridinium salt is obtd. by the alkylation of isonicotinonitrile with a methylation agent (e.g. methyl chloride or dimethyl sulfate).

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a new compound useful as a bleach activator for a detergent composition. SOLUTION: This new compound is represented by formula I R1 to R3 are each a 1-24C alkyl or an aryl; R2 and R3 together with N to which both are bonded form a 4-6C ring, etc.; L is a group represented by formula II [(n) is 3-5], etc.; X is an anion}, e.g. (N,N,N-trimethylammonium)acetylpyrrolidone chloride. The compound represented by formula I is obtained by reacting a lactam with chloroacetyl chloride in the presence of an auxiliary base, providing an N-(chloroacetyl)amide, then reacting the resultant compound with a secondary amine, preparing a 2-(N,N-dialkylamine)acetyllactam and subsequently alkylating the resultant compound.

Abstract:
Abstract:
Triacylated ethanolamines of the formula… (RCO)(R1CO)N-(CH2)2-OCOR2… in which R, R1 and R2 are identical or different and are alkyl, alkenyl or aryl groups, and the total of all C atoms in the molecule is 8 to 14, are liquid and readily miscible with water. By reason of these properties they are very suitable as peroxide activators in liquid detergents and cleaners.

Abstract:
Storage-stable aqueous suspensions of organic peracids containing 1 to 50 % by weight of a surfactant mixture consisting of 1 to 4 parts by weight of a C8-C22-fatty alcohol, oxyethylated with 1 to 5 units of ethylene oxide, and 4 to 1 parts by weight of a C8-C22-fatty alcohol, oxyethylated with 6 to 25 units of ethylene oxide, and optionally in addition other conventional components. It is possible owing to the use of two different surfactants to adjust very different viscosity levels in these suspensions, from low viscosity to pasty formulations.
