MIXTURES OF ISOMERS OF BENZOXANTHENE OR BENZOTHIOXANTHENE DYESTUFFS OF THE GENERAL FORMULATE
X 8-R6-2,3-DIHYDRO-PHENALEN-7,6-YLENE)-) WHEREIN X IS OXYGEN OR SULFUR, R AN OPTIONALLY SUBSTITUTED ALKYL GROUP, AN ACYL OR ARYLSULFONYL GROUP, R1 AND R2 ARE HYDROGEN OR HALOGEN ATOMS, ALKYL, ARYL, A CYL, ACYLOXY, CARBALKOXY, ALKOXY, NITRO, ALKYLTHIO OR ALKYLTHIO OR ALKYLSOLFONYL GROUPS OR THEY FORM TOGETHER A CONDENSED BENZENE RING, R3 AND R4 ARE HYDROGEN OR HALOGEN ATOMS, ALKYL, ALKOXY, ARYL, CARBALKOXY OR NITRILE GROUPS, R5 AND R6 REPRESENT HYDROGEN OR OPTIONALLY SUBSTITUTED ALKOXY GROUPS, AND A PROCESS FOR PREPARING THEM. THE DYESTUFFS ARE VERY SUITABLE FOR THE DYEING OF SYNTHETIC MATERIALS, ESPECIALLY F OR THE DYEING OF POLYETHYLENEGLYCOL TEREPHTHALATE. MOREOVER, THESE DYESTUFFS MAY BE USED AS FLUORESCENT DYESTUFF IN THE MASS DYEINGS OF SYNTHETIC POLYMERS. THE RESULTING DYEINGS ARE DISTINGUISHED BY A GOOD FASTNESS TO LIGHT, WET PROCESSING AND THERMOFIXATION.
LINEAR TRANS-QUINACRIDONES OF THE GENERAL FORMULA WHEREIN R IS A HYDROGEN ATOM OR AN ALKYL GROUP, PREFERABLY HAVING 1 TO 6 CARBON ATOMS, EXCEPT THE ETHYL, N-BUTYL AND N-HEXYL GROUP AND PROCESS FOR PREPARING THEM. SAID PIGMENTS ARE AT LEAST AS FAST TO LIGHT AND WEATHERING AND ARE SUITABLE FOR COLORING PRINTING INKS, LACQUERS AND PLASTICS.

THIS PROCESS IS SUITED FOR ALL COMPOUNDS WHICH CONTAIN THE BENZOTHIOZANTHENE RING, INDEPENDENTLY OF THEIR SUBSTITUENTS. THE PRODUCTS OBTAINED BY THIS PROCESS HAVE A MARKEDLY HIGHER PURITY AND ARE OBTAINED IN A HIGHER YIELD ARE COMPARED TO TO OTHER PROCESSES.

FURTHERMORE, THE DYESTUFFS MAY BE USED AS FLUORESCENT DYESTUFFS FOR THE COLORING OF SYNTHETIC POLYMERS IN THE MELT.

THE PRESENT INVENTION PROVIDES A NAPHTHOYLENE-BISBENZIMIDAZOLE PIGMENT IN A NEW AND VALUABLE B-MODIFICATION, WHICH IS CHARACTERIZED BY AN X-RAY DIFFRACTION PATTERN WITH MAXIMUMS OF HIGH INTENSITY AT THE DIFFRACTION ANGLES OF 4.3*, 6.65* AND 13.45* AND MAXIMUMS OF MEDIUM INTESITY AT THE DIFFRACTION ANGLES OF 4.8*, 12.1* AND 14.45*, MEASURED WITH CU-K A-IRRADIATION. THE INVENTION FURTHERMORE PROVIDES A PROCESS FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF THE ABOVE SPECIFIED PIGMENT, WHEREIN CRUDE CIS-NAPHTHOYLENE-BIS-BENZIMIDAZOLE IS HEATED IN WATER AND/OR A SOLVENT TO TEMPERATURES IN THE RANGE OF ABOUT 100* TO 250* AND THE PIGMENT THUS OBTAINED IS ISOLATED IN THE USUAL MANNER.

PROCESS FOR PREPARING NAPHTHALENE-1,8-DICARBOXYLIC ACIDIMIDE, WHEREIN SOLID NAPHTHALENE-1,8-DICARBOXYLIC ACIDANHYDRIDE IS REACTED WITH GASEOUS AMMONIA AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURES. THIS PROCESS YIELDS NAPHTHALENE-1,8-DICARBOXYLIC ACID IMIDE IN AN ALMOST QUANTITATIVE YIELD AND IN A HIGH PURITY, SO THAT IT MAY BE DIRECTLY USED FOR THE PREPARATION OF PERYLENE-TETRACARBOXYLIX ACID-DIIMIDE PIGMENTS.

A mixture consisting of two dyestuffs in a ratio of from 10 : 90 and 90 : 10% by weight of the general formula
WHEREIN X represents an oxygen atom of a sulfur atom or a sulfonyl group, R represents an aryl group, an aliphatic or a hetero-cyclic group, Y represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a nitro group or a phenyl group, Z represents a hydrogen or halogen atom, M IS AN INTEGER FROM 1 TO 4 AND N IS THE INTEGER 1 OR 2 AND WHICH DIFFER IN AT LEAST ONE MEANING OF X, R, Y and Z. These dyestuff mixtures dye synthetic fibrous materials, in particular polyethene terephthalate, yellow shades of good fastness to washing, solvents and light as well as to hot processing and to thermofixation. They are especially useful for the dyeing of wound packages.

WHEREIN R1 and R2 are identical or different and represent a hydrogen or halogen atom, an alkyl or alkoxy group having each 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an aryloxy, aryl, carbonamide or N-alkyl carbonamide group or which represent together the radical of an aromatic or heterocyclic ring, and 0.5 to 15 percent by weight of one or several linear trans-quinacridones of the general formula WHEREIN Y represents a straight-chained or branched alkyl or alkoxy radical having 6 to 18 carbon atoms, m and n are integers of from 0 to 1 and the sum of n and m being 1 or 2 and R1 and R2 having the meanings given above. These mixtures are obtained by mixing with one another starting compound or final products substituted accordingly during the process of preparation or formation and processing in the manner usual for quinacridones. As compared to the single components the mixture thereof is more transparent and has a better color intensity, a better dispersability and fluidity of the lacquers colored with them and frequently more brilliant shades.
