Abstract: A network system 100 for transferring crypto-currencies, such as bitcoins (RTM), altcoins or digital currencies, between a user account and a receiving account comprises an offline user computing device 10 which generates a token. The token includes information of an amount of crypto currency to be transferred from the user account to the receiving account and information of a first password for enabling the transfer. The token is signed by the offline device with a private key and a portable user storage device 20, such as a mobile phone, flash memory, USB flash drive, or SD card, stores the signed token for transportation to a receiving device 30. The receiving device, for example at the place of a merchant, receives the signed token from the portable user storage device, authenticates the user based on the signed token, and receives a second password. In communication with a central server 40, the receiving device compares the first password and the second password and, if they match, transfers the amount of cryptocurrency from the user account to the receiving account based on the information included in the token. The central server may be part of a distributed consensus network (DCN).
